In this demo paper, we will describe Electra - a system that integrates an automated data-insight discovery mechanism with a novel machine-learning (ML) driven approximate query processing (AQP) engine that can answer complex queries with a large number of predicates or conditions with high accuracy. A marketing campaign is one real-world scenario where a non-programmer needs to dig such huge data in a very short period of time (a few hours) in order to hit a target revenue.

These might be fresh insights or re-looking at why previous insights did not work and how to fix those. My conclusion is that if you can set aside, for a while, how you think you ‘should’ look to the outside world and just happily inhabit your unconscious persona, you may just enjoy the moment a little more. There are various scenarios where very quick insights from a massive amount of data need to be extracted in a time-critical manner. I am so thankful for the knowledge gained from working with the Insights Discovery model even during a holiday, having the skills to spot the conscious and unconscious in action allows me to understand more deeply what these look like in everyday life and in the business world. The second came from seeing local children trying to earn some pocket money by selling unwanted toys to the public - they were like mini entrepreneurs in the making! Their parents kept a close eye on them while they were playing away and enjoying the little moments of sibling fun. Seeing these ladies being so un-self-conscious I could see the natural space they were in and get a glimpse into their lives. To me, it seemed that they were in a heated discussion, with all of the hand movements to match and unaware facial expressions to accompany such a debate! You could tell they were in a comfortable expressional space. The first experience came from two local ladies who were enjoying a morning spritz (wine-based cocktail) sitting outside a café. This is where I got a great deal of joy from seeing the unconscious in action during my time in Venice. Only through bringing the unconscious into consciousness can we resolve our past and achieve a stable personality. Jung called the unconscious the great friend, guide and advisor of the conscious.

It seems that getting a perfect "selfie" - and thus creating the perfect conscious persona - has become a very important factor when on your travels. Creating your own conscious picture perfect persona has become a normal activity. When gliding through the beautiful streets of Venice taking in the most spectacular views, I couldn't help but notice the amount of "selfie" sticks there were so many that they often dominated my view. The unconscious is you when you’re a little more relaxed and caught unawares perhaps think of it as that slightly less flattering photo you’re tagged in on social media!

The conscious can be described as how you would like the world to see you or how you want to show up a great example being when you take a picture perfect "selfie". The conscious persona and the perfect "selfie"

Having just returned from a wonderful break to stunning Venice, I was speechless at the beauty of this Italian destination - I could share many highlights and stories - but one of my main observations, which absolutely fascinated me, was how crystal clear the conscious versus unconscious was to my eye.ĬG Jung talked about the conscious and unconscious personas: these form the basis of the Insights Discovery model, and are explored within the Insights Discovery Personal Profile too.
